Description:

Vacuum Drum Filter is a highly efficient and widely-used continuous rotary filter, specifically designed for the filtration and dewatering of starch slurry in the starch production industry. This equipment is essential for separating liquids from solids, ensuring the highest quality of the final product. The system consists of a rotating drum, connected to a vacuum pump that exerts negative pressure for effective filtration. The drum is covered with a filter cloth or a stainless-steel screen and housed in an external half-cylinder casing or trough.

As the drum rotates, it is partially submerged in the starch slurry, drawing the slurry into the trough. The vacuum pressure pulls the clean liquid or filtrate through the filter, leaving the solid particles to form a cake on the surface of the drum. This cake can be washed to remove impurities or extract more product. The filtrate is routed into channels inside the drum and discharged through several outlets, while the starch cake is scraped off or allowed to fall freely for further processing. The drum then rotates back into the freshly fed slurry, and the process repeats.

Microtec's vacuum drum filters are designed with a strong, compact, and durable structure, making them ideal for both large and medium-sized starch production plants. These filters are engineered to meet the highest international standards, including CE Marking, Design Risk Assessment, and Finite Element Analysis, ensuring reliability and safety in operation. Available in various sizes, from 5 m² to 75 m² filtration surfaces, Microtec's vacuum drum filters are highly customisable to meet specific client requirements, whether for dewatering potato, cassava, wheat, or corn starch, as well as various modified starches.
